Bad habits are like a comfortable bed; easy to get into but difficult to get out. The chain of bad habits are generally too light to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.Ramadan is an ideal training period for filtering out bad habits, developing virtuous character and is thus referred to by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a shield against evil and wrongfulness. We are obligated to nurture our noble qualities; control our passions, our anger and emotions. We are instructed to be considerate, generous and compassionate.

I believe you assume it's 'discusting' because you have the general image of a man chewing consists of the qaad being visible along the corners of the mouth and dirty teeth.

Cali_Gaab wrote:The Nomad wrote:Don't compare the noble, ancient tradition of chewing khat to filthy practices like smoking and drinking.
It's insulting.
Ilaahay kheyr ha ku siiyo![]()
Surrender, i smoke one cigarette on my way to Taraaweeh and one on my way back from Taraaweeh.
As far as the qaad is concerned, i haven't done it yet as you might have discovered in the other thread but i might just have a session caawa after salaada.
Last year, i've stopped smoking for the first 3weeks of Ramadan just to see if i could actually stop smoking. I managed the 3 weeks without any problems and decided to continue smoking knowing that whenever i want to quit i can do so without any hesitation.

The Nomad wrote:surrender, It's not haram, but then again, what do you know?
It's a f-king stimulant.
I break my fast with khat

Alot of us do chew neatly, it's like having table manners or not.
Surrender, ofcourse i dont smoke during the day.........your question was 'How do you guys manage to fast without smoking...' Now if i smoked during the day it would brake my fast wouldn't it![]()
If you're asking me if i smoke during the day other than ramadan then yes.
I never have more than 4 cigarettes a day down from 8 hence i'm cutting down. I believe that you have to cut down first before you can stop.
Most people tackle it the wrong way and try to quit totally just like that which makes it even harder.

That site was set up by the government of Ethiopia to dissuade people from using khat and therefore bringing about peace![]()
