Do you have a social Disability?

Postby Basra- » Wed Sep 02, 2009 3:22 pm

I feel i am ill equipped to social with strangers. Walaahi this disability is really annoying me. I lack the skill of "small talk' that engages one and avoids awkwardness. I mean, dont get me wrong, i am NEVER awkward- in fact the fear to be awkward prevents me to relax and be social. I am of the mind- if u r shy or run the probability of saying something embarrasing- say nothing. Restrict your comments to the weather and always offer a warm but distant smile. Today a co-worker introduced us and to me her brother who is visiting from serbia. A very handsome man by all account. He stood there starring at me with extreme force and desire. ALl i could utter from my mouth was...first a hand shake---Hi my name is Basra---nice to meet you! Thats it! I could not go beyond this. :x Oh then when the silence could not go on, his sister saved me by introducing him to another co-worker, still he looked at me and i said-- ''Welcome"! Meaning what exactly?  :x :x :x

Basra something tells me this was an extreme case. Perhaps his intense stare elicited a mental orgasm. Are you into sadistic tease or/and mutilation. Do tell?

For the most part im pretty good in social settings where I don’t know anyone. I’m good at small talk, have no problem introducing myself, and can carry one two or three conversations at once. In fact im usually the one to help draw the shy person or the wall flower into the group.

My only problem is that I usually forget about the person that I came with. But what’s the point of going to a social gathering if you only want to talk with the people that you already know?
