Fish was not commonly available during the Sixties. I had a couple of Jubba catfish I caught myself, and a huge lobster I was given and ate in Baraawe. I saw shark being caught and eaten in Eyl. There was a large kiosk on the beach in Hamar where (mostly foreigners) could buy the day's catch. But that was it.
I remember seeing a small derelict boat in Kismayu, but boats were just not generally to be found. Fishing, then, was not something reer miye was up for. The fishing and the piracy is relatively new......
