Islamic Philosophy?

Okay, I've realised that not that many people don't necessarily hold strong regards to Islamic Philosophy. In fact, they denounce it being legitimate at all. I personally love learning about Islamic philosophers and how they contributed to the philosophical thinking in the Islamic world. Some might consider it being wrong, because we can't really make things up, so we have to abide by the Quran and the Sunna which I completely 100% agree. But, has Islamic Philosophy ever engrossed you sooo much that you've decided that you want to change your major to Philosophy, moreover to Islamic Philosophy?

Somalineters, you've communicated so much virtually that I hardly have seen anyone discussed the realm of Islamic Philosophy. I'm not trying to be verbose, but I would for one to talk about philosophy, he/she must automically respect philosophy's burdens and views.

One of the most Islamic Philosophers were Ibn Sina, who created the school of Avicennism. Also, Ibn Tibbons and ofcourse my favorite Ibn Rushd. This men lived in an era where philosophy prevailed and prosper to a whole new world of thinkings (Not against Islam, I hope) but a place where education tasted GOOD. :|

Philosophy started during the "enlighten" era. The age of philosophy encouraged learning and thinking and rationalizing and in the processes they abandon the act of faith or believing. Suddenly believing was not rational enuf for the atheist--who granted are learned but nevertheless philosophers. The "Ibnus" u mentioned above may not constitute as the typical philosophers if they did not encourage reformist attitudes.

PS: One then asks Where did Enlighten sista get her nick name? She subscribes to philosophy like religion yet.....Hhhmm well nevermind ,.,.,.

Well said, but there is always to sides to everything. Philosophical thinkings could range from anti-religion to rationalizing languages and it's origins. Seriously, I've heard about this so-called "Enlighten Sista", is there a possibility that there is a correlation between you and her?

My favorite poets? I have many, but those in my top list would have to be Edgar Allan Poe, William Blake (His poems are very poetic indeed), Rumi ( A sufi poet, but his verses are outstanding). This three poets top my list so far. What about you?
