I do not. They are Somalis. That is why our people are falling hard. We used to hold each other hands, now when someone wants to shake your hand, you either stab it, or ask its qabiil.

I can (mildly) speak it...reading and writing is also limited.
I dont think its that important. I mean majority of the language is taking from other langues.

Abdiqasim (Xafidhahullah) had the right idea to be frank. A confederation with Yemen, seeing as we are the least developed members of the League would be best. With Khaleej aid (perhaps giving over the reigns to them), both countries should be first world, Saudi-esque preferably after a few decades.

arabic is important but it shouldnt surpass our mother tongue, after all we can learn both just emphesise on our language more.

Arabic should surpass Somali. The first thing the winning faction should do after instituting Sharia should be a nationwide Arabic literacy campaign.
The importance according to the Ulema:
Ubay ibn Ka'b said:
"Teach Arabic (ie Arabic grammar) like you teach the memorisation of the Qur'an!"
Abu Bakr said:
"That I recite and forget (a portion) is more beloved to me than to make a grammatical mistake!"
Umar once passed by a group of archers who missed their targets. He reprimanded them, and they responded that they were only beginners, but they made a grammatical mistake in phrasing their response. He told them, "Verily, your mistakes in (Arabic) grammar are more diffcult for me to bear than your mistakes in archery!"(Quotes from Lughat al-Quraan by Abu Ubadah Ibrahim ibn Muhammad, pps 15-20)
Imam ash-Shafi'e said:
"Therefore, it is imperative that every Muslim should strive to learn Arabic as hard as he can, so that he can testify the shahada, and recite the Book of Allah, and say the invocations that are mandatory upon him, such as the takbeer, tasbeeh and tashahhud and other prayers. And the more he learns the language that Allah Himself chose to be the language of him who sealed the prophets (SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam), and to be the language of His Final Revelation, the better it is for him!" (al-Zarqani, v.2, p. 152)
Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah said:
"...The Arabic language is part of the religion, and knowing it is obligatory. This is because the ability to understand the Qur'an and Sunnah is obligatory on every Muslim, and yet they cannot be understood without knowing Arabic, and (the general Islamic principle is that) every act that is an essential prerequisit to perfom an obligatory act is also obligatory." (Iqtidaa, p. 469)
He also said:
'As for becoming accustomed to talking to one another in a language other than Arabic…undoubtedly this is makrooh (disliked)…Such was also the case in Khurasaan in the past (that they spoke Arabic), then they became lax with regard to the language and got used to speaking Farsee (Persian) until it became prevalent and Arabic was forgotten by most of them. Undoubtedly this is disliked. The best way is to become accustomed to speaking Arabic so that the young people will learn it in their homes and schools, so that the symbol of Islam and its people will prevail. This will make it easier for the people of Islam to understand the Qur'aan and Sunnah, and the words of the salaf…Know that being used to using a language has a clear and strong effect on one's thinking, behaviour and religious commitment. It also has an effect on making one resemble the early generations of this Ummah, the Companions and the Taabi'een. Being like them improves one's thinking, religious commitment and behaviour.' (Ibn Taymiyyah: Iqitidaa Siratul Mustaqeem)

Girl when will you ever learn to accept responsibility & stop blaming foreigners? The Somali language is not dying out in Somalia but amongst the 8 million or so Somalis in the Diaspora. You hardly EVER speak Somali, so I suggest YOU go and learn your language, instead of making xenophobia your hobby!

Firstly the Somali language is related to Arabic for those who hate Arabic. They are both Afro Asiatic languages. Arabic is the closest foreign language to the Somalis.
Secondly, a people who dont know their own mother tongue is like a mouse that thinks its a lion.
