It was an editorial mistake because the comment was off the record and apology was already issued to the white house for releasing that info.

Whats inappropriate is that someone leaked that tape and info, when it wasn't supposed to go out, other than that, the President has a right to have an opinion, and a regular conversation. I

f he had said it on the record, or like in front of congress than that would be another case, but he didn't

The reporter asked him about it, before the interview started, and he was having a normal convo. Its not as if, he did it on the record, in front of congress or anything. Are Presidents not allowed to talk about normal everyday things?

shirib i know, but he should just ignored or made the answer very simple, like "people should respect one another, the winner of that award deserved it and it should be respected" or something like that

It isn't as if the interview was dedicated to the matter.

It was small chat, instigated by a reporter. It was supposed to be off-the-record. The unprofesional one is that idiot Terry Moran.
