Dijib, dont get me wrong I love family, extended, close, friends all of em. But some common courtesy wouldnt be to much to ask.

Cumar, glad i'm not alone, but mine goes back to the early 90's.

nobleman don't tell me that you rent hotel when you going outside london like birmingham.

Horta why would someone rent a hotel when they have friends and family in the city?
it is outside of common sense behaviour

Usually your relatives get offended if you stay in a hotel.

If they are coming from Europe, it's Ok to have them borrow your car and cruise the city.

Last time, I had a cousin who was here for a Convention. He is a Biochemist and makes 10 grand a month, yet I had to welcome him in my house.
Living in a hotel and having your rental car won't provide the luxury of seeing your extended family reminiscing some good old times.

Gaalnimo maaha inaad ka xishooto baryo bani aadam oo aan Ilaahay kuu baahin

Ofcourse we have a lot to hide too..Your privacy is invaded here.. I can wear what I want when I am with my family..but when a bunch of strangers live in your home, you have to be wrapped up the whole day and night..

My principle is "Baahidaada iyo baryadaada waa la isla sugaa" I would never accept or expect someone to pay for me when I can. It is about dignity  I love and I always pray to Allaah to make me the upper hand not the hand that is asking aka lower hand..

If someone is ineed I will be the first to find and bring home but I don't like people who are lying to themselves and saying "We are going for a vacation when what they really doing is imposing themselves to people that they are not even related to  and expecting them to cook and clean after them...

Kambuli,

I had someone visit me and I was not expecting him at all, he didn't make any hotel reservations and whenever I visited his city, he never offered to host me even once when I had to leave where I was staying. I took him to Starbucks and got him a hotel room at a discount rate & booked a car for him too which he paid for.

My rational was if he never offered to host me before why should I inconvenience myself

Kambuli,

  I can't be bothered anymore. If its immediate family, yes, i will deal with it but someone who doesn't show that kind of hospitality to you, why bother.

What is so inconveniencing about few nights of hosting a relation or a friend? It's not as if it's happening every other night.

AW, is this a Habartaa Gidir dhaqan waryaa?

A/W,

I am with you on this one  Saxan saxan ku gud saanan saan ku gud! It will take a long time but there will be a time people will respect themselves and have dignity
