Watching Oprah today.....

OMG!!! Oprah had this african woman guest, who had achieved impossible dreams that seriously can inspire anyone of us here. This african woman from Zimbabwe was approached by a charity relief american woman in her african village and was asked what was her dream? She responded i want to move to usa, go to college and get an education. Her dreams came true. She ended coming to the usa, had BA, Masters, and at the end of this year she is getting a Phd. (in agriculture, i know, i know, why the hell that subject ma ha? But she is an adoon and from africa, so i understand)

Anyway--her inspiration story is NOT why i am telling her story here. As she sat with Oprah discussing her inspirations,.... ....she shared some very crucial information which sort of blew me away! Let me go back a little on the backround of the story. IN her african village, it is a custom not to send girls to school. So what she ended up doing is stay at home to study her brothers books. In fact, she was helping one of her lil bros to study and write his homework. When a teacher discovered what she was doing, the teacher ended up pleading with the father to let his daughter to go to school. The father refused and she was married to a man at 11.

Back to the sitting with the Oprah revealation.....anyway..... as she sat there in her african attire, with her rasta farre dread hair, with a sweet pleasing face that spoke silent strength, she shared a shocking revealation. That her lil bro that she helped with his homework had died of Aids. Then later she also added that her husband whom she moved to usa with her 5 kids-- the husband also had died of AIDS in usa.

So .....walaal...we dont need any bogus, hypothetical statistics here. Here before our eyes we have an obscure african woman sharing her triumphant obscure personal story, where she happens just to drop her own statisitcs. An amazing story in a fluke, reavealing a big african secret. AIDS. The --real story here should be ---OMG.......if a random woman like this....can have two people in her family die of aids, then the statistic must be 1 in every 3 in africa are dieng with AIDS and no one knows. Bisiinka. Aids has become like malaria or a casual illness synonymous with africans now. Caudubillaahi! Who knows the silents stories of millions of africans dieng? Somalis included.

I used to watch Oprah once in a blue moon...couldn't stand her screeching melodramatic audience , couldn't stand the episodes about diets/calacaal..etc etc.

Sounds like it was only you who didn't know. Southern African countries almost always are near the top of all AIDS Lists. Forget Oprah and follow world news, darling Basra. :P
