Taghut

Postby 1nemansquad » Tue Oct 06, 2009 9:06 pm

This term is new to me, i only learnt about it recently and apparently both the Alshabaab, the Hisbul-Islaam and their supporters are labelling eachother and anyone else who doesn't have the same opinion as them a Taghut

And here is what it means

All things that are worshipped besides Allah (swt) even from a single aspect of worship, and he is accepting of that status is a Taghut

But they are not being true to what the meaning to Taghut is, i mean we all know there is no such Muslim who is worshiping anyone or anything other than Allah (swt)

What they (both these groups) are actually saying is, if your not with their brand of Islaam; you don't take up arms against the infidels (another Muslim) your a Taghut

This is a fine example of when you mix Islaam and Somalis, we are just beyond terrible at it so i was jus wondering, how can anyone support any of these groups at all? how can you determine which group is on the Haq and which group isn't

Discuss!

AssalaamuAlaikum,

Is that a political question or a religious one?
Alhamdulilah, if your question is from a religious point of view then it is a very interesting one! SubhanAllah to reject Taghut is part of Iman :D

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions the term Taghurt several times and within different contexts. Its a very wide term and one which is linked to Iman. The word Taghurt is linked to the word 'Taga/Tagha' as a root word. It carries the meaning of not trangressing limits and therefore a Taghut as a transgresser.

"Verily whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimoon (Polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers."[Surah Al-Maeda 5:72]

"if you commit shirk [join others in worship with Allah] (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers."[Surah-Az-Zumar 39:65]

“And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities i.e.do not worship Taghut besides Allah)...”[Surah-An-Nahl 16:36]

“Say (O Muhammad SAW to the people of scripture): "Shall I inform you of those who will have even worse than this in retribution from Allah? They are those whom Allah has cursed; who have incurred His wrath; some of whom were turned into apes and pigs; who worshipped Taghut (false deities); these are worse in rank (on the Day of Resurrection in the Hell-fire), and far more astray from the Right Way (in the life of this world)."[Surah-Al-Maidah 5:60]

“Have you not seen those (hypocrites) who claim that they believe in that which has been sent down to you, and that which was sent down before you? They wish to go for judgement (in their disputes) to the Taghut (false judges) while they have been ordered to reject them. But Shaitan (satan) wishes to lead them far astray.”[Surah-An-Nisa 4:60]

"There is no compulsion in religion. Verily the right path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower."[Surah-Al-Baqarah 2:256]

“Allah is the Wali (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out of the depth of darkness and lead them into the light. As for the unbelievers, their Auliya (supporters and helpers) are Taghut (false deities and false leaders), they take them out of the light and lead them into the depths of darkness. As a result they will become the companions of the Hell fire and shall live therein forever.”[Surah-Al-Baqarah 2:257]

"Those who are believers, fight in the cause of Allah, and those who are unbelievers fight in the cause of Taghut (forces of Shaitan): so fight against the helpers of Shaitan; surely, Shaitan's crafty schemes are very weak.”[Surah-An-Nisa 4:76]

Alhamdulilah read up about it, its very interesting. There are many many many many verses regarding it!! And its something linked to Iman, your belief in Allah, the messengers, the angels, the books and the hereafter.

And Allah knows best. :)

AssalaamuAlaikum,

Is that a political question or a religious one?
when did question about taghut become a political question?

typical salafis. kufr-bit-taghut must be practiced with political consideration in mind, lest their beloved tawagheet get exposed!

The brother mentioned Somalis and Islam. His talking about Al-Shabab and other groups of the like... That falls into a political arena. Forgive me if I am wrong 1nemansquad.

SS, do not confuse Talafis and Salafis. Salafis waa the most steadfast adherents on the face of the Earth, the closest to Ahl al-Sunnah at this time.

HI are for all intents and purposes Taghut. The scholars unanimously agree, they are munafiqeen and the harbingers of fitna.
