Unearthing the history of the lost Somalis

Postby Warsame101 » Fri Oct 09, 2009 11:54 am

How awesome would it be if I went from Harar and its surrounding villages all way the Danakil Platteau and video interview the lost Somalis from the Ahmed Gurey's campaign and record their tales and their ancestor's.

If only I had the cash or Universal TV sponsored me. It's a history that needs to be documented before it becomes completely lost.

It is a good task if you are up for it. It doesn't take a lot of cash to go to Ethiopia or travel around there.

Unfortunately it does if you want to travel to the remote isolated places. But insha'Allah, it's a feasible project that I had mind. Might not happen, but should at least give someone else the initative to do it.

Are they brothers? I remember him and Wise-man trying defend the clan organization only to disintegrate a couple of months later.

Just like Somali Sujuis there are hundreds of thousands of ethnic Somalis who integrated deep into Xabaashi society only faintly considering themselves Somalis rather they adopted the xabaashi language and lifestyles .
Back in the day people would go to Harer to gain knowledge in islam by reknowned scholars. It is city rich in history
