SIGN PETITION to the UK Prime Minister to Recognise Somaliln

Postby MrPrestige » Sat Oct 24, 2009 2:00 pm

More details from petition creator
Somaliland was given independence by Britain, before being united with Somalia (ex-Italian Somalia) under the Siad Barre regime. On the fall of the dictator in 1991, Somaliland again declared its independence. It has since built a largely peaceful, tribal/democratic society. This is based on a democratically elected lower house, and a tribally selected upper house. This is in marked contrast to (Italian) Somalia, and to Puntland - both failed states. The Somaliland navy has completely controlled piracy in its national waters, and has offered base facilities and cooperation to the international anti-piracy forces. It is time the UK recognised its former colony as a successful, independent state and as a partner

Can you please sign this petition and pass it on.

Lets make the British Government understand we are united on this position and we dont want to go back to anarchy as a united Somalia.

You must be a British citizen or resident to sign the petition. Please enter your name only; signatures containing other text may be removed by the petitions team.

Something is wrong with you people, it's not that people don't want to recognize Somaliland it's that international laws prevent people from recognizing Somaliland. It is not possible, this won't accomplish anything.

Best of luck, anyway.
