What are the causes of war? Currently, there are wars all over the world, people are asking one question repeatedly, and the question is why do we fight? Different people have different views and opinions about why wars happen, some see it as an inevitable necessary thing, while others observe it as an evil act that should never be encouraged. If we come to the question, why do we fight or what causes wars? There is not one specific cause of war, Robert Hinde says in his book “Most wars are caused by a complex network of interacting events and circumstances†(Hinde125). Mainly the cause of war is a need for change against oppression, suppression or aggression. Things such as resources, land and religion or ethnic differences are a good recipe for war too.
Resources are one of the causes of war. Competition over oil, water, and land may cause disagreement that will turn into conflict. Another cause of wars is imperialistic ambitions. They wage war in order to expand or colonize other countries. Ethnic wars such as the Hutu vs.Tutsi are also popular around the world. The reason for this is “When members of different cultural groups find themselves in the same administrative area, difficulties are likely to arise†(Hinde72). Separatists that want to be independent from their own country always use gorilla wars. Secessionist countries such as Ireland, Kashmir and Chechnya are a few of the many.
