Somali can mean ethnicity or nationality, which is why people are a bit confused. Thats why the country should be called something other than somalia because there are people there that arent somali ethnically e.g. barwaanis.
An example would be a country like iran. The vast majority of "iranians" are persians ethnically. Then there are other ethnic groups like kurds, arabs turkmen etc. Somalia needs to change the name of the country then it will be less confusing, but that aint gonna happen; why would the majority change the name of their country to appease the minority?

Darood
Digil/Midhifle
Tumaal/Madhibaan/Midgaan.etc
What-ever is left over arent somalis ethnically but nationality wise they are, e.g 'Somali' bantu
