I think people want to keep mogadishu as the capital for sentimental and emotional reasons rather than for practical ones. I guess it's the idea that if u conquer mogadishu you conquer somalia. which is stupid. The city has gone to hell -- it's far easier to establish the capital somewhere where government officials aren't spending 80% of their time dodging bullets. I say barawa since it has so much history. can you imagine ? the somali government officially announces barawa as the new capital, the international community recognizes it as the capital, capital starts flowing into the place....mogadishu would become a shanny town and those douche bags running around there would become irrelevant

nevermind about barawa. just somewhere else other than mogadishu.

New York City, United States. Somalia needs to be placed under the UN trusteeship system for the next 10 years or until a feasible solution is achieved.
