Hi, Bareento.

In mentioning Lowlands i was refering to the nation's(people's) except the highlander(Tigre&habash)

Bareento The ogaden somali's we're Independent like many Somali Nomands, where they adhered to the traditional nomadic political structure.
The current phase of hostility between Abbysinia began with menelik and his expansionist agenda, his capture of harar in 1884 served as a catalyst into furthering his expansion into the Somali region's. He began raiding them, however he wasnt successful in capturing any, Changing the the nature of the Conflict was that of the italian Invasion into british Colonial possesions in the north and Independent Abbysinia, along with this capturing the Ogaden. The Defeat of the Italian's saw the british Betray the Somali's of the Ogaden and handed them over officially to Haile selassie by the 1950's, the reason's remain unkown, as with the NFD somali region in Kenya. Perhaps this was to get them back for Leading Africa's longest Colonial emancipation effort in the Somaliland by Sayid mohamed abdulle(Mad Mullah), or Haile's argument that Somali's we're a Nomadic people with no borders, who come and go, hence they dont own the ogaden per se. Interestingly the Organisation which would deliver Somalia's Independence the Somali youth League was first established in Jigjiga(Ogaden), however this was overlooked and ignored by the colonist, serving the Ulterior interest's of Haile. Who can Forget Haile's Close relationship to the British, the Italians we're of no influence being the looser's of WWII.

So the first Somali encounter with the Habash we're during the Ifat and Adal sultunate's. As the Habash Kindoms we're overwhelmed by the Oromo expansion, the muslim empire's we're also being exhausted by the Oromo, this lead to the sudden decline of both these entities...the Old Gate's of harar we're built for this reason. the Second installment of violent habash Interaction is in the Current phase, beginning in the colonial era as i described above, in which it seemed they finally recovered from the ahmed Gurey invasion and the Oromo expansion.

Bareento The Ogaden Conflict exist's today without Somalia, so theirs no Greater Somalia aspect to it, well atleast at this stage. We are currently vying for a restoration of our independence and from there we wish to decide our fate, But it seems we're leaning towards outright independence from Ethiopia, Joining Somalia is out of the picture, neither is Somalia ready for such a process. So far we have maintained this profile, we're not serving an irredenist concept but an indigenous movement without foreighn inteference, hence why we tend to use the Ogaden as our Official name. And so we Soldier on.

Bareento We're Brother's in Arms my freind, Oromo or Somali Ogaden.

Our Objective is the same.

Going back to ONLF&OLF relations we can see this goes back to 1996

In 1996, the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) reportedly signed an alliance with the ONLF (Islamist) and the Beni Shangul People's Liberation Movement. The alliance offered the OLF "better access to western Oromo areas, where it has much support" (ibid.).

Strenghthening this tie will ensure our success.

Indeed Hanqadh,

Its my deeprooted belief that a kind of comprehensive strategic alliance is necessary;
that way the balance of power will change;
Wat u guys achieved against all the odds is impressive :up:
