Its the *third largest city in Somalia and it doesn't have a port. Is this relative to location, that since Berbera lie on the Aden Sea it gets a port and since Kismayo is closer to Kenya it gets a port.
That makes some sense. Next to Xamar, Kismayo and Bosaso, its the other major city on the coast yet unlike those 3 it doesn't have a port.
If tiny Bosaso got a port during the previous government why didn't Marka when it was far more established and ten fold bigger.
For that matter, why doesn't anyone talk about Marka, obviously being a behemoth of a place. Its got more highrises than Beletweyn, Baidoa and Kismayo combined, those other 3 cities account for their large populations because of high refugee/squatter populations as opposed to Marka which is mostly permanent residents and saw little influx since the civil war.
