Another poem Insh'Allah,
Eemaan
Life does bear a spectrum of emotions,
Arising from so many different notions,
And feelings from every type of occurrence;
Beyond control, yet so strong an influence.
At times I feel so down and drained,
As if I’m falling, falling, and fall again;
Descending through a thousand floors,
No earth is there to break my back,
Except a void; a misty tract,
So thick with fog and degrading thoughts;
A lifeless place of withering sorts,
No rope is there to pull me out,
Nor ear is there to hear me shout,
A colourless husk grasps me tight,
Forcing me to collapse under its might,
Whereupon I’m thrust down and flung to the ground,
And from above I’m compressed and crushed all around.
So hear me my brother – I’m so lost and forgotten,
Listen my dear! I’m too deep down and downtrodden!
What can one do when he has strayed so far?
Take heed of these words and you’ll glow like a star…
Do not despair of Allaah’s Mercy,
Which encompasses His Wrath – what words of beauty!
Engage with the ones on whose lips is remembrance,
And stand up from your chasm to see His Guidance,
Wash off the glue of laziness and clear your mind,
Think to start anew and rinse off your rind,
Do not look back nor be daunted by a stumble,
Never lose hope nor let your faith crumble,
Many have fallen before you but have arisen thereafter,
Ignore the devil’s whisperings and men full of laughter,
You need to awaken and know your enemy so plain,
So first stop your descent before arising in vain,
Then repent from the One awaiting your return,
This is the start of an effort to earn.
Stands you a strong one; no deterrent drags you,
A reformed character, from whom Allaah’s Light Glistens through.
And Penetrates the fog in that tract once fathomless,
Outshining its thickness and turns wickedness to dust!
Defying your misery and defending your ascent,
Finally heightened onto your high path unbent,
But still flying higher, being stronger than before,
See this, my friend: how hope opens the door!
God comes to your aid once you make the first move,
That’s all it takes to burst through the roof,
And know how to resist; fight like a believer;
Return all his blows and detect his manoeuver;
Shielded from Shaytaan and equipped to the teeth!
Shutting out his words and halting his beef!
Deadening his allies and striking with Iron,
Immobilizing such ghouls with roars of a lion,
Then unhindered by smokeless fire you do continue,
Now no longer overburdened but on life’s other hue.
I feel so content and at one with the world,
Having overcome the darkness out of which I crawled,
God has given me peace, purity and honour,
As though I’m residing with white clouds never sombre,
A cumulus of comfort and luxurious success,
A glittering amalgam that gleams from one’s chest,
Evermore I am rising, rising, and rise again,
Competing for goodness and Allaah’s Pleasure is my aim,
Ascending over many ranks,
No evil waiting by the riverbanks,
Nor attractions to disturb my vision.
No more shadows to make head-on collisions,
Only prosperous gardens ripe with fruits,
The sweetness of Eemaan sprouting from all roots,
White robes billowing out; unfolding behind me,
As I advance with vehemence through the vibrant virtuality.
"...and never give up hope of Allaah's soothing Mercy: truly no one despairs of Allaah's soothing Mercy, except those who have no faith." [Yusuf: 87]
