Political science

How useless.

I don't get people who call certain subjects useless. How so? It doesn't matter what you study, its about what you make out of your qualification.
The more mentally and culturally reer baadiye they are, the more they look down on humanities majors, incidentally which is the one thing that actually makes you "intelligent" in the developed world. You can do engineering or seek some other hard science (apparently the only thing the reer baadiyes put a value on) but will not be considered "intelligent" by Western definition without extensive background in the humanities.

Obama is today the most powerful man in the world. His undergrad major? Political Science. His Treasury Secretary grew to be a hotshot economist, head of the New York Federal Reserve. Timothy Geithner's undergrad major? East Asian Studies.

CCL,Just follow what your heart desires and make sure you Know what you are doing.Your major will not shape what your life will be for eternity althought it plays a crucial role.

My mother wanted me to become a Doctor but i didnt like it.I ultimately confronted her about it and then I was allowed to pursue my dreams.
I always loved anything related to math and it came easy to me.I always loved math and solving equations.

finally,I got admission in an engineering college (the choice was mine)where I am now studying Telecom engineering.alhamduliah,I am doing fine so far.
some of my friends flunked out just after the first semester and started studying bussiness related degrees,They say that the limit of engineering as The GPA approaches and gets closer and closer to Zero is BUSSINESSS.

oh,It is not only the reer baadiye you are trying to bash who value doctors or engineers but it is a world wide phenomena.!when you finsih high school and decide to go to university the first Question your parents would ask is "what do you want to be after your studies?" you ought to be specific in your answer sxb,you cant just say i am going to be a politician or ambassador etc.
and again,I am laughing at the obama part, lool.you right his major is Pol.sci.laakin ahmedinejad happens to be a civil engineer?? You dont have to study pol.sci or M.B.B.S to hold office and assuming so is plain stupid.

You don't need to defend yourself to me, saxib. I get it, you picked a useless degree and you're proud.

Poli Sci is pretty much as low as you can get, in conjunction with community college and you're looking at barber school as soon as you drop out

So funny how the original poster wanted someone to solve her homework, instead got a lecture on what and what not to major in.

If you're asking for help in Poli Sci you are in the wrong field. How on earth do you need help in Poli Sci? :?:

I understand any other subject, like solving margins in accounting/econ or derivatives in calculus which take explanations. How can we explain to you anything about politics without doing your homework for you.

Put it this way, I took a junior level poli sci class as a freshman, had an essay worth two exam scores and bullshitted for 14 pages on Somali clan system and got an A.

I agree w/the others, I think you made this topic for us to comment on your major and we all disapprove. For your own sake, use your college money to earn a skill. I can read any Poli Sci textbook and know as much as anyone who has completed that course.

Put it this way - we all know world leaders and politicians with medical and engineering degrees but how many Poli Sci or English Lit majors are capable of building a bridge? :|

Politics is instinctive and part of human nature, its not a skill. Everyone makes small talk about politics, how many artists make small talk about medicine or physics? If you're paying $50,000 or more for college, learn something worth your money. A high school algebra class is worth more of my money than some bullshit class on terrorism or congolese-american relations.

^ I disagree... Everybody isn't made to be doctors, lawyers and what not. Every qualification gives you a skill whether it be journalism, studio arts or what not. We need to diversify and each use our area of expertise for the better of Somalia . :som:  :som:
