There are many claims of what ethnicity, Ahmed Gurey was. What evidence is there that is one either of these three.

Last time I created a thread asking the meaning of Qabil names and they said it will lead to clan bashing. But it didn't hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Did a quick research. Most people agree he was Somali. Then read a Somali forum and they started fighting over his clan

I have to admit you agreeing with me has surprised me.I am used to seeing somalis more attached to him than what you have presented.
But either way he has become the salah ul din of the horn by every ethnic claiming him.

then why did his wife marry a KNOWN somali man, Nur ibn Mujahid, who known to be marehan. We also known that Somalis have this culture of marrying their near relatives( brthers mainly) wives when their husband dies inorder to ensure that nothing foes wrong either financially or socially with the kids and widowed mother.

I recall reading a book in amharic (written before contemprary ethio/somali rivalty), in which its stated that he was a BALAW;
Balaw is described as an extinct Afar or mixed Afar/Tigre tribe.

But from what I read (on the net) a lot of Somali Clans and Sub-Clans claim him with more or less convincing arguments.
