There are different Somalis. Riverine Somalis aren't the same camel herding Somalis. Bantu and coastal Somalis aren't the same as camel herding Somalis. Af-Maay isn't Somali, yet millions of Somalis speak it. A Northerner who has never been in the South wouldn't understand Southern Somali language, and vice versa. Then there are the Sufi, secular and others who follow true Islam. So no, Somalis aren't homogeneous as is claimed.

I will exhibit an example; Somaliland's president speaks a mild form of Northern Somali. A Koonfurian who has never been to the North or isn't familiar with the language spoken there, would find it very hard to understand most of Riyaale's language. This is a video of him speaking:

I challenge any Koonfurian who isn't familiar with Riyaale's language to tell how much Somali of the video he/she understood. I would bet less than 20%.

If a Northerner doesn't understand Koonfurian Somali, then it's a different language. You know Northern Somali 'cause you've learned it, but many Koonfurians don't know it. Learning Northern Somali is just like learning a second language. The same concept applies to Waqooyians who are unfamiliar with Koonfurian language; they wouldn't understand it unless they learn it.

ok guys, i was just joking around,the last part was a sarky comment to give the stereotypical approach of qabyaalad. Anyway jokes aside. I truly believe that we will have Unity one day, be it 5 years 10 or 20 years from now on. What I would suggest is to created county administration based within a federal state. I believe that Somaliland and Puntland are mashalah, and they setting up an example for the rest of the country. We have to move on from competition based on clan superiority and military might, to economic competition and development. Moreover, we have to create more flexible trade regulations in order to decrease the barriers of entry for small businesses. BUT before all that all the Somali federal stated MUST work on the most important issue any states worries about: National security and stability. How? By embarking on highly efficient disarmament programmes, whereby youth not only get disarmed but also thought of the religion, culture and and nationalism. Education of all levels of the society is a must. Moreover we MUST make sure to big up eachother and say mashalah whenever on State does well. Never forget we are all Muslims and Somalis.(some people might think this guy must be tryin to hard or talk is cheap come up with action, but I say YES we can. Our day will come. To all the Somali youth I know we our country is not in a very good situation right now, but lets have all an open mind and give eachother time and respect and love.
