When officers arrived, they found three men dead inside the store. Police said it looked like a robbery gone bad.
While police did not release the identities of the deceased, Somali leader Omar Jamal said they were the owner, the owner's cousin and another employee.
Police are going to review surveillance tape from the market.
People who live in the neighborhood were shocked to hear about the deaths.
"It's unbelievable. This is the safest neighborhood you could imagine. I've been living and working here the last five years and nothing like this has happened," said a neighbor of the community.
The police chief and the mayor of Minneapolis came to the scene Wednesday night to talk with people in the community. At this point, they have no suspects in custody.
