Gay Marriage out in New Jersey; for now!
Well, the wheels of democracy certainly can spin out of control sometimes. In theory, the will of the people should push any democracy into the optimal, the preferred, the healthy direction. That is after all one of the pros in the “Democracy” pros & cons debate. I suppose at the theoretical level, if we assumed some fantasy variables about human nature, population demographics, average intelligence, socioeconomic health, and media use/control, perhaps it makes sense. Perhaps it would be an ideal system!
But these variables do not exist in the real world nor does the truest concept of democracy exist in our world. My NC colleague discussed this at length last year in the “The will of the people! Maybe?”. This is an addendum to his post.
Saw this one today in an All Headline News feed, a news wire agency in the AHN Media Corporation. Headline reads “New Jersey Senate Rejects Gay Marriage Bill” and it is another example of when “The Democracy Strikes Back”.
This came much to the dismay of the primary, intended benefactors and promoters of democracy (two distinctly different entities in my estimation), New Jersey will not become the sixth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Right now, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, and New Hampshire, are the primary benefactor states of the LGBT activist initiative. Last November, Main slapped the “social veto” on a law passed by the state legislature there. Yea!!! To the healthy New Jersey resident-members of democracy!
