and hopefully they can help you build some dignity, self esteem, and self worth

instead of advocating for somalis to build their own nation and put aside their differences and use their brains, your clapping your hands like a little monkey dancing to the italian national anthem

Whatever strategic significance Somalia ever had, it lost with the end of the cold war. Can anyone tell me what strategic value Somalia serves in today's Geo-strategic scheme? I am actually of the view that Somalia gained independence without being ready for statehood. There is a reason why historians call the time after our independence as the "Somali Project." We are basically experimenting with how a society works and how a modern state is suppose to function. This is a country that never had any history of central government before colonization. The other country that shares a background similar to ours is Afghanistan. Is it any wonder then, that we are both the 2 most failed countries in the world? Something isn't working and we need to ask ourselves the hard question. Our problems deserve a very critical close examination, and this is exactly why silly cries like "Italy is here to colonize us" are irritating and trivialize our tragedy. Of course, no one is going to colonize a barren, drought-stricken failed state that is no real cognate value to the world. There are more countries deserving colonization than Somalia, if this conspiracy theory was actually true.

Somalia today deserving the world's sympathy and this is exactly what is moving countries such as Italy to try to inject funds and other needed necessities necessary for the running of the state. The guys who are saying this help is some sort of neo-colonization are the very same people who also believe that man never landed on the moon and the Jews did the 9/11 attacks.

You can't be serious, folks

Actually Italy is really there for Somalia as its "colonial power". The only European nation still with an embassy in Mogadishu and the only country to fulfill its pledges to the TFG in that Brussels's meeting. Don't blame Italy, there is so much she can do for a nation which does not want to get the fock up.

Dude, what's up with gedo girl? Ive never seen her so emotional. She USED to be the sane one...

Michael-

She is in international development and just came back from a stint in Tanzania and slated to go back to Africa in two weeks. I think she saw IMF/World Bank/NGO screwing of African in first person view.

Course then that ill feeling is translated into anti-imperialiasm, anti-colonialism, etc.

Basra-

I listen to facts when it comes to anything about Somalia.

Actually a lot of Africa did. Just not the Somalis.

How do you think slavery came to be? African rulers sold them more than Whites getting in there and taking anything. They would war and one group would be captured and enslaved and then exchanged for commodities Europeans traded on the coast.

Vo

Slavery existed before the colonization of the white man of africans. first--- white sailors/people went to africa in their mighty ships, and yes---entering through coastal shores--west africa to be precise, and soon started exchanging goods. Unfortunately, the adoons being soul-less as they are, sold their kind. Then the white man decided, hey ---this huge land with such huge adoon orangatuans--we can colonize them and get everything for free. No need for exchange of goods, bingo--colonization idea was coined.
