As other's have mentioned it was meant to be some way for us to know each other. That being said to me I generally translate qabiil as this sick phenomena that makes perfectly sane people act like inhumane barbarians.


2) do you use Qabiil, and how do you use it ?
I don't ask people their clan so, quite hard to utulize it. The only time I am forced to acknowledge this is when I address an elder as 'abti/habaryar' and they make a point to inform me they are in fact 'eedo/adeer' . Oh yeah and when like random's come up to me claiming we are cousins. Totally uncomfortable. Walhamdulilah, I have enough 'real' cousins that I don't have to act like a hanger-off.


3) most importantly how significant is Qabiil in your life ? from 0 to 10

I'd interpret zero as "I have never had an encounter with any thing got to do with my clan", so I'll say 1.

Qabiil is a way for us to track our lineage and kinship.Is part of our culture and identity.Allah has created Qabiil inorder for for us to get to know one another. The Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) loved his tribe (the Quraish tribe) very much.
