Cold_Spring aka T_L here is one of ur athiest comments in the topic abt science and religion.
Religions die when they are proved true. Science is the record of dead religions

Enough Said
You see religion was an attempt to make sense of our world by ancient people. As society has developed and understood the universe better, alot of the those questions were/are answered by science. So in sum, as we progress scientifically/intellectually/socially religions lose their value because we would be able to make sense our world(hopefully) in better terms then the explanations put forth by people like god created the world in six days and took rest on the seventh

You also used to post there as Mulugbadh but you got banned
I would prefer observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of the world than a collection of myths. More beautifully, unlike religion science doesn't claim to know and explain everything, meaning there is no deterministic absolute knowledge.

The science I know of knew the answer to the shape of earth before Jesus, let alone mohamed, was even born.
Read 'The Librarian Who Measured the Earth'.

What I said was this: ''Science doesn't claim to know and explain everything''

What kind of assumptions are we talking about here? Do we mean the ones that mohamed, who claimed everything, said 'the sun sets in a muddy pool'' O I bet that would fit it better.
You have paraphrased my statement incorrectly, I guess that is the fault of your English teacher . Anyway, what is more beautiful about not claiming to know and explain everything while you still can't is that you're not actually 'THE JACK OF ALL TRADES AND MASTER OF NONE' like Mohamed.
Ahaahhahaha.

That is the science in the Quran huh? I bet many guys in here believe that the sperm comes fromt the upper part of the body, chest or between ribs and back bone (contradicting huh?), and carpet earth and things like that. And also many, as they can't differentiate what is right from what is wrong, thought you were posting science. Let us enjoy this.

I need a drink
Thanks somal

To be fair to him, the last person doesn't seem like Twisted. The quotes seem more like Hoowle/Dhusadheer. Twisted debates more philosophically not literal science.

Queen Arwello,

You should have been decent to post the entire post

I agree with the crux of your agreement, but let me add a supplementary point here. The question of morality is a very vague aspect in my view. It was Joan Didion who once wrote about morality on her remarkable piece On Morality that, “we have no way of knowing-beyond that fundamental loyalty to the social code- what is “right” and what is ‘’wrong,” what is “good” and what is “evil,”………the most disturbing aspect of “morality,” seems to me to be the frequency with which the word appears.” It is quite evident to us that what was socially acceptable two centuries ago is no longer acceptable as society has moved towards a more progressive path (or at least we claim so). It goes without saying then that as societies mature intellectually and or culturally, that certain behaviors are discarded and newer one espoused and as a result the goal-post of morality is recurrently shifted to keep up with the changing cultural attitudes.

I think it was Engels who once asserted that the conception of right and wrong has “varied so much from nation to nation and age to age that they have been in direct contradiction to each other.” In fact, Engels even goes as to argue that, “moral theories of right are the products of economic stages of societies, and in particular the dominant class.” He explores this theme further on his now celebrated book On Right and History, The Anti-Duhring. Obviously, Engels made those arguments at a time when religion was being stage-managed by various European monarchs to subdue the rise of liberty and democracy advanced by the supporters of the French Revolution and consequently believed together with Karl Marx that religion was, “the opium of the people,” pushed forth by the elite to bolster the preservation of their power and thus to coerce the poor to accept their sadistic plight with the promise of heavenly rewards in the next. As I have quoted Oscar Wilde in my first post on this thread, “Religions die when they are proved true. Science is the record of dead religions.” So accordingly, as people progress in terms of culturally and intellectually, religion which was first created to make sense of the world will lose its relevancy as science will answer the great questions of our time in more unambiguous and sagacious manner. In my mind morality is not something that is unique to religion. Certainly, in terms of philanthropy the great majority of humanitarians are atheists or agnostics.

Personally, I feel that religion has a constructive role to play in terms of spirituality and individual development; however, it should not be allowed to encroach towards the sphere of politics or be used as a tool to manipulate/intimidate other people. It should always be used for what it was initially created for: a connection between the created and the creator.

I am convinced that you're undercover atheist but you lack the courage to express your views in public.
You not a militant atheist but a dogmatic atheist.
