For an interesting perspective on why how societies rise, fall and the factors behind each swing:


A good book on why development occurred differently on different continents and how geography, location, environment, weather all influenced the development of societies:
AbdiWahab you are really an educated fellow, I've read them all, great books :up:

Abdiwahab and Twisted, Philosophy and Jeffrey Sach's end of poverty (one of my favorite books of all time) is not what Ganjaweed is asking for. I would tell him to start with the lexus and olive tree then get into something like guns, germs, and steel. To understand how we got to here, he needs to understand what "here" means.
