(Took Basra's topic about Somalia)
Men would eat plates of blessings from their fingertips
little boys roamed, suckling on sweet mango
until the last drip reached the tongues tip
tasting nectar sweet as their mothers
In a melodic tone meant for men who sit above
Women would sit under trees and sing to the sky
telling tales of grazing days, of better days
reiterated by princesses sipping false tea
Today those cases cease to be
bullets and blood decorate the barren streets,
piled one after the other
desecrated bodies lay six feet,
poor mothers weep at their sons feet
forever in deep sleep,
ungodly men enter forbidden holes
and little girls bore at age four,
realities from the Horn
hear me the helpless cry!
