Galmudug has lots of potential, it just needs infrastructure. From what I've seen Galmudug is making good progress, and is heading in the right direction.
Building up the police forces and bringing law and order to every corner of Galmudug is the best first step really. With security businesses can prosper, and establish the kind of growing economy that makes everything possible.

Oxidant,

Common sense?!

Everything starts with one step.

I think you need to use Common sense. And little Maths.

1. If you've natural resources available, investor will come!
2. Infrastructure can be build within a year or two using Local and international investors Money.

Anyway!

I'll leave you to be.

No one is going to invest in a state in Somalia. The returns must be great considering the risk. Your investment needs to be secure and viable. Something Somalia isn't. Even places like the Ogaden with known gas deposits people are still afraid to invest.

Investors will come when there is some sort of security.

What local money? Galmudug barely has a 5 million budget. That's not even enough to build a port or decent roads. Who is willing to invest in Somalia. Somali Diaspora would rather invest in Kenya instead Somalia. That alone speaks volume

Again, comparing Galmudug to Djibouti is just stupid.

Again i agree with Oxidant that a strong central government in Mogadishu is thee only way. Galmudug is great but it will and must be loyal to the central Government :som:

If Somalia has a strong central government in Mogadishu, that whole Somalia would boom. Political security is one of the most important prerequisite to economic development. These clowns think simply because you have resources investors will just rush in. That is not the case

Stupid?!

Come on! I've been to Djibouti.

Djibouti is city-state led by incompetent fools. And the only developed part is 42sq km area. 33 years of nationhood and all they can show is 42sq km of semi-development land?! Walahi, the capital of Ali Sabieh region is same size as Ceeldibir (Go and google earth the two towns).

The land currently administrate by GalMudug authority is secure and peaceful region of Somalia (INGOS and LNGOS operate in the region). GalMudugians simply need to find solution to the piracy. And I think sending few battle-wagons to Harardhere will eradicate the wannabe pirates.

As for the investors. Believe it or not, Investors already started to invest in Somalia and in particular Puntland and Somaliland.

Here is the list.

1. Abu dubia livestock group signed 500 Million dollars contract with Puntland State.
2. Lootah Investment group signed Dhs170m worth management with Puntland (see;http://www.ameinfo.com/176786.html).
3. Somaliland already signed 700 Million dollars port improvement with investment Group.
4. Arab Gas group build Gas plant in Somaliland (Millions of dollars worth of investment).
5 Somaliland signed 250-300 Million dollar worth of investment with German investments Group (see:http://www.afrol.com/articles/21109).
6. Africa Oil/RS invested Millions of dollars in Puntland State Oil reserves.

Somaliland and Puntland signed more than 1.5 Billion dollars worth of investment in 3 years.

Oh and in GalMudug, Small INVESTMENT GROUP is operating in the region. Only time will tell the full story.

I see.

What we've here is two unitary system supporters.

Friends,

Strong central government in Mogadishu = ECONOMIC development?!

What you lots proposing is city-state like that of Djibouti or former Somalia?!

21 years of Siad barre's "Strong" regime and 9 years of "unified" Unitary government failed to secure investors money. The reason is unitary government led by incompetent people and central dictatorship-government alway luck creativity and competent people.

Like it or not.
The vision preached by Puntland State and GalMudug state is the future.
