PBS Frontline Documentary about Dancing boys of Afghanistan

Postby Enlightened~Sista » Thu Mar 04, 2010 7:49 am

In Afghanistan today, in the midst of war and endemic poverty, an ancient tradition -- banned when the Taliban were in power -- has re-emerged across the country: Many hundreds of boys, often as young as 11, are being lured off the streets on the promise of a new life, many unaware that their real fate is to be used for entertainment and sex. They're the "Bacha Bereesh," literally "beardless boys," chosen for their height, size and beauty, trained to sing and dance for male audiences, and then traded for sexual favors among former warlords and powerful businessmen. With remarkable access inside a sexual exploitation ring operating in Afghanistan, an Afghan journalist investigates this illegal practice, talking with the boys and their masters, and documenting how the Afghan authorities responsible for stopping these crimes are sometimes themselves complicit in the practice.

Hyper there are many reasons why homosexuality happens, there is no 1 reason. Google Situational homosexuality ya akhuuy idha haday shay muntashir li' hadaraja fi ba3dal al awtaan al muslimma..laazim ni3raf shinuu asbaab hada al intishaar!

There is far more homosexuality in some Muslim countries compared to Western countries.

Enlighten sists i am sorry, i cant help but agree with hyper. It has nothin to do with segregation of men and women in muslim world. OR to do with Hijaab. I know that is your personal belief and philosophy and that u will jump on any band wagon excuse to blame arabs and consequently muslim for every lil thing they do. Homosexuality is a human illness, it doesnt matter if its americans, afghanistans, or timbuktu-ians, homosexuality is inherent in the dna codes of humanbeings.Hyper brilliantly showed u an example of how in america women r practically every where and naked, and yet an overwhelming gay population exist.I think your arguement is ignorant and unelightened, if u dont mind me saying. :D

Why is that do you think? Don't use that the segregation of men and women. Just because women are 'hidden' doesn't mean they are not approachable. The article you've brought talka about former warlords and powerful businessmen, i'm pretty sure that those man can pick from many women :!:

This is also not homosexuality but rather a child abuse, if it was homosexuality then those men would have relationsships with themselves. There's in the west a rising phenomen: Middle aged men from the west go often to third countries, like Sri lanka or Thailand, with the intentions of abusing kids  So it is not just problem in Muslim countries

abdalla11 :o How interesting. Here u r defending homosexuality by making it more superior in rank than child abuse.U seem very knowledgeable in the distinction. How refreshing. :D
