Because a lot of Puntlanders yearn for the day they can safely go south again, a lot of restaurants in places like Garowe and Bosaso are named after places in Shabellaha, Banaadir and Jubboyinka. Its about nostalgia too, a lot of Puntlanders fled places like Xamar and Kismayo and want a taste or reminder of the good old days.

Puntland, with Ethiopian support will fight Al-Shabaab, but being the birthplace of the Salafi movement in Somalia I think the locals will stay impartial or supportive of the Shabaab, we'll see, however I doubt Al-Shabaab will ever leave their current positions to a great extent.

Arabs actually in general are against Somaliland/Puntland, and have always been more in support of one central Government in Mogadishu. Basically it is a geo political game between Ethiopia and the Arab World for influence in Somalia, and Ethiopia Has always been in favor of mini regional admins, while the Arab League inparticular Saudi Arabia/Egypt always wanted a strong central authority to spite Ethiopia. That is why the Arab League Has always offered token support if any at all to Somaliand/Puntland/TFG
