i must say al.sibab have proven themselves extremely capable in carrying out sophisticated militarily operations, Mareergur is not only a few km from Dhusamareb but also north of the city.how on earth have they managed to pull that off ?

these guys are not only in a harsh environment but also Somalia's most hostile region.

Im shocked its north of dhuuso mareeb, galkacyo is only a stones throw away, i guess they where biding their time  :o :o

to be honest i don't think anyone can predict their moves because al.sibab are no army and they have an unusual agenda that covers many areas which allows them to pretty much skip or delay independent military offensives or reactions.

these guys are Gog and Magoog, once let out Ooh boy  not jumping to conclusion or anything but the fact that they have learned how to survive in Galgaduud says alot :|

the real challenge for shabab starts when they capture galgaduud. ahlusunnah is not united as it was in the beginning. but still though should guriceel + all cities in galgaduud fall to shabaab,i applaud them(the citizens) how they managed to keep shabaab away for a long time.

the most promising war will be somaliland vs alshabab.

by the way enemy_of_madmullah,would you still support shabaab should they digg out out graves belonging to scholars & clananchestor of your people ?

Alshabab caadi ma'ahan, they managed to reach matabaan and matabaan can only be accessed through guriceel, so they are already around guriceel, now they have surrounded dhusamareeb. Ahlu sunnah are sitting ducks, they better step up the dhikri because they will be getting a beating soon

Why don't you also help out, if your buffer zone is captured what makes you think that alshabab will stop there. :P

Matabaan is between Guri-ceel and Beled-Weyne while Mareerguur is northeast of Dhusa-mareb. Ahlu Sunnah is no more. The Hawiye branched signed a unilateral agreement with the TFG and the Marehan/Dir branch dissolved the union.

There is no longer an organized opposition.

Cumar, if Shabaab takes over this buffer zone, Puntland is gone. It will fall indefinitely. Once Puntland falls, all of Eastern Somaliland will support them out of spit against Hargeisa and then it will be all of that plus your own extremists who will see an opening. The way I see the situation is first they came for you, then you, then you, and then me.

I think we are overestimating shabab abit, you have to remember that their clashes in these current locations are a never ending cycle: they win, they lose, they win etc. The only places that they don't look like loosing is xamar, the two shabelles, the two jubbas and bay and bakool - because even hiiraan it's they lose, they win saga.

Not all somalis are stupid. if dhusamareeb and guriceel are captured, I bet balabanle and cabudwaaq will just surrender if they don't receive Ethiopian help. Only a large well equipped/organized force can defeat al shabab, not a bunch of grave worshiping moryaan.

this Hutu guy is totally baffled, don't lose your mind son. :|

al.sibab evidently have superior communication hardware which has enables them to disperse and regroup effectively. apparently there is not a single other group that has had the ability to respond successfully to this. this is nothing new, what i am pondering over is how they have managed to silently navigate through the highly populated midlands, concentrated with passionate Sufi resistance, and crowded with Tribal clusters all hostile to al.sibab.

so far it looks like they can take over, and i dont think the al.sibab lenient rurals and the weak secular city dwellers of puntland and Somaliland can do much to stop them. both Somaliland and Puntland will disintegrate into chaos once the Sufi wall has been dismantled, what will most likely happen is with foreign intervention both regional administrations will be rescued but limited to Bosaso and Berbera to run a paper government much like TFG.
