Native Non-Slave Bantus in Somalia

Postby Oxidant » Fri Apr 09, 2010 9:19 am

I heard there are Bantus who are indigenous to Somalia. They were not enslaved but have been living there for a while. They live around Hiiraan region.

Does anyone have more information on them? Did they interact with Bantu slaves that were brought to Somalia

You mean Reer-Shabelle? they speak Somali better then Bantus, and they interact with other Somalis, they don't consider themselves to be from another country. Their culture is very close to main stream Somali culture. they mostly live around shabelle river, in hiiraan and ethiopia.
