ONLF

Postby SahanGalbeed » Fri Apr 09, 2010 10:26 pm

Can anybody give me the link of a site where there is a comprehensive strategy of the ONLF ?
What they ultimately wanna acheive , how they wanna get there ? What can be worked out with their enemy , what is NOT !
Seriously , I am genuinely curious about it , no bullshit !

There's this link:

http://www.cfr.org/publication/13208/

This line caught my attention:
there have been rumors of ties between the ONLF and al-Qaeda

Thanks
What does the ONLF want?
The ONLF is a nationalist movement that seeks self-determination for ethnic Somalis in the Ogaden region. This is in contrast to other national movements in the Horn of Africa, which have sought to create a “Greater Somalia” in which all areas populated by Somalis are unified into one country. The ONLF also claims that the Ethiopian government has committed human rights abuses in the Ogaden, including interfering with relief work and international aid intended for the area, and that it wants retribution. Ethiopian officials have repeatedly denied such charges and allege the ONLF is responsible for the abuses.
Self determination and retribution .

Well I have found what I was looking for .
Article 39 of the Ethiopian Constitution
http://www.selamta.net/Downloads/Ethiop ... tution.htm

The right to secession .
Adding an article to make those clause virtually impossible to meet ONLY calls for prolongued conflict in the case one of the Nations were to attempt exercising that right .
I see the ONLF in a new light today *

PS : the Ethiopian Constitution is a bunch of nice stories that Meles Zenawi tramples everyday !
* Of course none of these cagdheers ever took the time to tell us anything , we gotta do it ourselves , they're just too good for that , huh?

Article 29 of the Ethiopian Constitution
1. Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without any interference.

2. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression without interference. This right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through other media of his choice.

3. Freedom of the press and mass media as well as freedom of artistic creation is guaranteed. Press freedom shall, in particular, include the rights enumerated hereunder: a) that censorship in any form is prohibited. b) the opportunity to have access to information of interest to the public.

4. The press shall be granted institutional independence and legal protection to enable it to accommodate different opinions and ensure the free flow of information, ideas and opinions that are necessary in a democratic society.
