Ahmed Deedat was a remarkable man. May Allah forgive all his sins and grant him Jannatul Firduas. I have ones seen on a Youtube a short video where Deedat talks about how Salman Rushdie had fooled the west with his book, the Satanic Verses. I couldn't get it now for some reason. It was one great video.

The man was arrogant and overated , he thought he had the answers for all the world ills. Any fair debate with an anti-Islamist free thinker could have shamed Deedaat, but Deedaat always chose his opponent carfefully he picked on usless red necks like Jimmy Swagar and his like.

I smell chronic envy and jealousy..Deedat (AUN) the Icon of the muslim world and one of the most influential and intellectual man of our time was far from arrogant but rather a humble human being driven by desire to spread the truth and beauty of Islam..he was flawless when debating with christians and sent shivers thru their spines before the debate even started..he murdered his opponents with his charismatic oratory skills and extensive knowledge of Christianity and the Bible.

Deedat never picked to debate with Floyd E.,Anis Shorrosh, Swagar,Dr. Gary miller and many others who thought they could defeat him but were slaughtered like sheeps John Paul II was even afraid to debate with Deedat.

Deedat is a legend for 6 decades he put christian missionaries and priests to shame, may allah grant him Jannatul Firduas..today his students known as the 'Deedats' are continuing his work

On May 3, 1996, Sheikh Ahmed Deedat suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed from the neck down because of a Cerebral Vascular Accident affecting the Brain Stem, and which also meant that he could no longer speak or swallow.[10] He was flown to King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, where he was reported to be fully alert and hence taught to communicate through a series of eye-movements via a chart whereby he would form words by acknowledging individual alphabets read out to him; this way he would form complete sentences.[10]

He spent the last nine years of his life in a bed in his home in Verulam, South Africa, encouraging people to engage in Da'wah (Islam propagation). He was looked after by his wife, Hawa Deedat, and was reported to have no bed-sores.[10] He continued to receive hundreds of letters of support from around the world, and local and international visitors continued to visit him and pay homage to his work.[4]

On August 8, 2005, Ahmed Deedat died at his home on Trevennen Road in Verulam in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. He is buried at the Verulam cemetery"
