The colorful Gedo region

Its a region located in southwestern Somalia and houses the largest number of districts of any region; 6 in total. The most important of these are Bardheere, Garbahareey and Belet Haawo. The region is home to roughly half a million people, mostly of the Marehan lineage.

The region is known for its diverse terrain. Home to lush swamps as well as sand dunes; its river flow unpredictable. Fertile yet tough to farm, it is a land of extremes. It is unique in that it is the only region in Somalia to border 2 other countries.
