do ads have an effect on you?

Postby zulaika » Wed May 19, 2010 1:06 pm

i will confess makeup ads work on me.....i see a well polished campaign ad for loreal, and i know the model doesn't look like that in real life(heck i probably even look better than her with no makeup on)...but i end wanting that mascara or lipstick after looking at that...

and lately, food ads are working on me a bit more than usual....., like this ad i just saw for scrumptious yummy comfort food while searching for recipe idea for 2nights dinner, i wanted to sink my teeth into the monitor..

the way i look at ads is i am going to buy the product that are backed millions in tv ads. they got the balls, and the insurances, and solvency to put their money were their mouth is, and i like to reward them for that effort. out of too many decisions to make and ponder, and the whole host of issues that you have to battle externally and internally, why not help the guy that has actually made it easier for you to choose when you are in line, saving you time over the counter and aisles. i gotta be honest, food chains now have generic products next to brand names, so i just snatch that instead.

I have to admit, some ads do.

Like those kfc meal deal adverts where they zoom in on those tasty looking chicken and fries

qoraxeey that is why you shop 2 hours instead of 5 minutes. lets say you were watching your favorite movie, an ad for 'dove soup' appears like five times while watching your favorite show, and they use phrases like 'the best eve', the most clean, fresh, etc. next day you are in the supermarket and you find out need a soup. out of 50 brands, which would you pick. according to your answer, you will read the fine print.

ok so you're saying you buy because you're impressed with the efforts put into the ad..and not necessarily out of desire for the product?

that's a strange way of putting it...
