Somali Show

Postby mvp » Thu Jun 17, 2010 6:55 pm

this year, the Special Somali Show was held in Alcester (near Shakespeare´s birthplace – Stratford upon Avon), on March 17th. This annual show is organised by british Somali Cat Club, under rules of GCCF.

Czech Somali breeders used to visit this show regularly only as viewers, but this year, for the first time, two czech Somalis were shown. One cat was fawn silver girl Zita von Kismayu (owned by Mrs. Horackova), imported to CZ from Germany to support czech breeding programme. Second cat was black silver boy Dom Perignon Silver ze Svobody (owned by Mrs. Horsley).

45 Somalis, two Siberians and seven housecats were presented at the show. Most of Somalis were non-silver cats. We could see also chocolate, chocolate tortie or red silver Somalis, these colors are very unusual in continental Europe. And judging system is for us unusual as well. Cats are in undecorate cages, marked only by a number. The exhibitors must leave the show hall and the judges go arround the cages and judge cats. The judgement is very silent and cats are more comfortable. It the afternoon, the show is opened to a public. Except of tradicional classes, Somali Cat Club has also funny classes like Best Purring Cat, Cat with Widest Smile etc.

The Somali Cat Club Show was very pleasant, as usual. When applying for Zita’s entrance, the club members helped me a lot to pass through all byrocracy. Also after my arrival to the show they took me up, took me to our pen and explained me all necessities. Even though I was a visitor to these shows in last years, it was very nice to know, that they will help me with any problem. I must say my big thanks to Somali Cat Club and especially to Brenda Horsley, who helped me the most.
