How do you kill close to a million people (Tutsis and intellectual Hutus) living almost entirely in the nation's capital, almost entirely from the professional and middle class, and the country doesn't suffer a single setback?
The Somali civil war killed far less people in a far less time table and from far less people living in the capital alone; the number of professionals and middle class killed in Somalia was equal or lesser to the number killed in Rwanda yet it set us back 100 years in terms of intellectual progress; we practically went back to the stone age in terms of mentality and even our cultural openness as a result of the shock stemming from the war.
So, how did Rwanda lose all of its professional and middle class a few months, practically everyone educated and skilled living in the capital, and have them back the next resuming life like nothing happened?
