Free Agency

Postby Mr. Yungnfresh » Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:13 pm

Who's going where why?

Has anybody else noticed this is an EPIC year in the NBA? The finals featured Boston/LA, who've won more championships between the two of them than the rest of the league combined, in a back-and-forth series that went the distance...and now today marked the beginning of the most talented free agent class ever in possibly all of professional sports (slightly ahead of the 1996 NBA free agent class). The playoffs were sluggish to start and the NBA Draft kinda fell off after the top 5 rookies got sent for, lakiin this is shaping up to be one of the best finishes to a season in awhile

Seems like LeBron is leaning towards Miami and Bosh is almost a sure thing.

Man, guys like David Lee and Brendan Haywood must be giddy with excitement at this point. Rudy Gay and John Salmons are already staying home. If Joe Johnson stays, that's three major free agents off the board without ANY of the below-the-cap teams having spent a dime.

There's an awful lot of money chasing precious few free agents.

Did y'all see that Amir Johnson just signed with Toronto for 5 years and $34 million?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5347403

He averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds. He gets $34 million. The NBA is a straaaange culture...

New York is sleeping on David Lee...he's a double-double machine, and while they're too busy looking for Lebron/Wade/Bosh/Amar'e, they might lose him and end up regretting it.

ATL already offered Joe Johnson 6 years, $119 million so they're ready to max him out, although i dunno if he's worth it. He's more of a legit second option, but he showed against the Magic in the playoffs that he can't carry a team. I like the 1-2 punch of him and Jamal Crawford, but they need some help and they'll only get better if they move Josh Smith/Marvin Williams for another piece.

Milwaukee is gonna be a team to watch out for now that John Salmons is back...that kid is underrated. Who else goes off for 30+ points on back to back nights and isn't even referred to as a role-player? With him back, Brandon Jennings back with a season under his belt, Michael Redd off injury on the perimeter, Corey Maggette on the roster now (who can still put up numbers), and Andrew Bogut who was having an all-star year before that injury...look for them to be a sleeper 4/5 seed next year if they can get a couple good bench pieces.

The Raptors already said goodbye to Bosh...they're just waiting for him to leave, and that's why they gave Amir Johnson that bread since they're expecting more minutes and bigger things from him next year. Personally, I woulda liked to see them throw that cheddar at Sonny Weams cuz I think he has more potential than Amir Johnson.

YounFresh, FALL BACK sxb, I'm a diehard lifelong knicks fan.

Yes David Lee was great, but Amare, is something else man. He's just more nasty than Lee. He's the only guy that on any given night will hand a Pau Gasol His ass to Him (42 pts game 3 vs lakers). LEBRON IS COMING TO NY SON, like I've been saying all along. Look at the reasons:

If He goes to Miami, He will look like He's piggybacking wade/bosh to a championship and will diminish in ppl's eyes.

If He stays in Cleavland He will not be able to get past Miami with two studs, and def not the lakers if he gets past the east with another two studs.

The Bulls, while they have talent, him and rose both need the ball in their hands and they do not have that second superstar.

New York? They got Amare Stoudemire a guy who really is on the caliber of Bosh and nipping at the heals of Pau Gasol as top power forward. Him and Lebron on the pick and roll will be devastating and I didn't even talk about having Gallinari on the wing canning trey's like its nobody's business and wilson chandler "ill will" who is a Jamario Moon with offensive skills. On top of that the Knicks will have caproom NEXT Summer too and can add a Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony etc. or make a trade since their under the cap. After a Decade of Suffering the Knicks ARE BACK
