United Nations International Court

Postby Goljano Lion » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:32 pm

A decision on Kosovo's independence by the United Nations highest court could have ramifications for other countries.

The United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague, or ICJ, has ruled that Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia was legal

God bless the United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague, this what Somaliland has been waiting for
Good news indeed

Kosovo's Foreign Minister Skender Hyseni addressed reporters shortly after the non-binding court opinion was released. "This is great news for Kosovo. This is great news for the peace and stability in the region of the Western Balkans. This is great news for Europe because finally, an international court of justice, an esteemed institution of justice, has confirmed that the people of Kosovo did the right thing by declaring their independence on the 17th of February 2008," he said
Somaliland is next inshalah

Many experts, including Ian Bancroft, believe that the ruling by the International Court of Justice sends a message worldwide. "The principle of the ICJ ruling seems to be very clear, that international law does not prohibit unilateral declarations of independence. Therefore, any secessionist movement, no matter where it is in the world, will look towards this and gain some encouragement that they too can pursue this path," he said

Kosovo had a legitimate case because of the Serbs christian oppression of the muslims. Somaliland is a clan enclave whom relies on old abolished borders.

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, there are no religious, cultural or language differences separating Somalis - the homogeneity of the Somali people is an obvious reality. Somalis have a shared culture and history and a collective destiny.."keep drinking the kool aid". somali diid .. aka isaaqland..or eedorland, dirta waqooy.. iwm

Not actually, Kosovo is different from Serbia, ethnically and religiously, there have been genocide and ethnic cleansing, what point do you have?
The quickest way for Somaliland to get independency, is to convert to Juadism and claim minority status in 99% muslim nation, other than that, its a wast of time.

I can't speak for any other Koonfurian but the whole anti-somaliland element in koonfur mind was planted their by people not from koonfur. We have nothing against the peace and prosperity of Somaliland or as far as i am concerned and speaking for myself as a koonfurian somaliland's independence Walahi is the best thing that can happen for the realisation of peace in koonfur.

Not even in a direct correlation but we all know who will follow your footsteps and their departure will begin an age of peace and prosperity for us too :D it is a win win situation.

I just don't know how to convince my elders. That which we fear is actually our only salvation from the status quo

:sland:  I admire your confident patience with the governments of the world...

If Shariff was a man of integrity a man who really has any inteligence and if he accepts this mutually beneficial seperation i think it will go a long way to him saving face... this is an opportunity for him to make a friend in Siilanyo and somaliland. He can take responsibility for something that will soon be forced on him and he can leave that seat with a smile on his face entering the somaliland history books as the man that was part of making it happen.

But he is not smart enough to realise this so forget about it...
