Somali-Saudi Conspiracy

Postby IRONm@N » Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:53 pm

I heard that the great mosque of Isbaheysiga in Downtown Mogadishu is built on an oil well, I heard the Saudis built on it, so Somalis never use that oil well, is it true or its ppl who want to destroy the mosque that are spreading these rumors?

IRONm@N,

All of the oil wells found in Somalia are known so if the Saudis were building the mosque on the top of the presumed well, we would have seen the documentation talking about the oil wells. Remember, most of the known oil wells were discovered by either Sinclair, Shell, and later on Conoco, Phillips, and Chevron. Saudi Gulf Oil did carry out oil explorations in the 60s and I have not seen any documentation discussing about their findings.

Is there a website that has a map about the oil wells in Somalia?

The thing is, Somalia is located below Saudi Arabia, and If Somalia starts opening oil wells, the Saudi wells will go dry, that is why you never see the Saudi king talking about Somali problems.

Iron,

I heard the same story too, but you got to remember us Somali are very great at conspiracy theory.

Also Somalia indeed has Oil, but I highly doubt that it is that much.

Nobody is talking about Somaliland in here, we talking about Isbaheysi mosque, which is located in Mogadishu not Somaliland.

That is not what your original quote said. Perhaps you should have made yourself clear!

I am a geologist and what ur saying about oil dripping down to Somalia is impossible and intact ludicrous.

The oil wells dat were drilled in da 80's were all dry (no oil or gas in dem). However there were traces of gas and usually were u find gas there will be oil.

Large amounts of gas were found in Ogaden, so Somalia must have some oil and gas, it just depends on how much.

Obviously its not in Saudis interest for Somalia to ever exploit their proven oil resources for many reasons. But not sure if they are activley trying to stop somalia through many of these conspiracy theories i.e. being behind the turmoil, building mosques on oil filled areas etc, Allahu calam.

Walahi bro I personally know a geologist who did a fact finding mission in central Somalia bossaso area and he told me himself that there is certainly oil, but he wasnt sure how much. The geologist was a professor at my previous uni.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists do have some of this info. I think you need to be a member in order to find that information or be an active student in one of the universities that has a geologic department. Keep in mind most of the oil and other mineral explorations that were conducted in Somalia are actually secretly guided by the companies who did the explorations. So if you are interestred in, it will be a huge effort on your part but you can get some of the public information from these academic institutions.

You can also contact US Geological Survey and they will give you some of the information in their position. However, to understand most of the research papers that they published you need some form of geologic knowledge.

You will also have to spend so many hours in the internet searching that info.

Good luck.

I find this map of oil exploration in the North
It seems that the controversial Sool, Sanaag and Ceyn is where oil reserves are suspected

This is to nomad

What I said did not contradict what u just said the only thing I won't say is Somalia definitely has oil when it's not been proven with producing wells, because that's not professional.

Well what I can say is Somalia has that right ingredients to produce oil and gas and surrounding countries that have small reserves of proven oil such as Yemen and Ogaden have similar geology. Because of that you can say Somalia is potentially a good location to explore for oil.
