Let me guess, they taught you all that Christopher Columbus 'accidentally' found the "New World" called The Americas?

Think about it, and look deep into this cowardly adventure.

The Christian world was about to be history. The Muslim empire known as Ottoman Empire (Osman Empire) was invading Europe, and taking country by country rapidly. The Christian empires were falling like dominoes, and the faith was on the verge of being lost forever. The Christian pope, and it's highest scholars decided to send a voyage to hunt for "New World", or new lands that are far from the reach of the Muslim Empire, where it would ONLY take by sea to reach their.

Their mission was to evacuate Western Europe for the siege of the Muslim Empire, not to mention Eastern Europe was on the brink of collapsing into the hands fo the Muslims, only Russia was on the way.

Anyways, Christopher Columbus was the man to be relied on, and he did NOT accidentally find AMERICAS. Christopher Columbus knew that the EART was FLAT, as it was gathered from the Muslim Scholars, not to mention it says in the QURAN, that the Earth was made FLAT. Therefore, Christopher Columbus and his fellow Christians knew that they would come upon a land, which would be FAR away from the reach of the Ottoman Empire.

Their mission was to move to this "new world", to safeguard the religion of Christianity and to repopulate the population of Christiandom. Fortunately, it has worked for the Christians Empire of Western Europe, in fact, the conquest of the Ottoman Empire to take over Western Europe never happened, due to issues and internal affairs occurring within the Ottoman Empire. :|

So, next time when you hear the "new world" expedition and the man named Christopher Columbus, know that it was a cowardly move, yet a very smart decision.

The NEW WORLD, hence the name was to let the Christians know that the WORLD they knew (EUROPE, NORTH AFRICA, ASIA) has fallen into the hands of the Ottoman Empire, thus...The Americas would be the breeding ground for Christianity.

I don't know where exactly, but it reads like this:

"And we made the earth flat, and on top of it place mountains as pillars or nails, so the ground won't shake on you" :|

Columbus went to the new world AFTER the Spanish reconquered Spain from the Muslims. Columbus was being sent to INDIA but his ship sailed to America by accident, that's why they still call Native Americans "Indians."

what a dumb post, you do know that the existence of Al-Andalus (Granada Emirate) ended the same year Columbus went to the New World

Lol ^ That's what they told you.

Columbus found the "new world" in 1491, and in 1453 approximately 40 years before Columbus finding, Constantinople fall into the hands of the Ottoman Empire.

In Spain, the Muslims lost, nonetheless, East of Spain, the Muslims were ravaging whatever came in front of them.

Eh?

Cristoforo Colombo was Genoese, I visited his old house when I went to Genoa this year.

You are correct in that the reason why he sailed west into the Atlantic was because of the Ottomans, but not for the reason you think.

Scholars have known that the world is a sphere for millennia, and educated people have always known this. This is because you can easily calculate the shape and even overall surface area using trigonometry and the length of shadows cast by the sun at different locations at the same time of day. The first man to do this was an Egyptian in ancient Egypt, and he measured the size of the world using the shadows cast on wells at different locations at the same time of day.

The thing is, Cristoforo Colombo massively overestimated the size of Eurasia (he thought China was twice as far away from Europe as it actually is) and massively underestimated the size of the earth (he used an estimate that underestimated the size of the Earth by about 30%), so when he sailed in the direction that he estimated the spice islands of Indonesia to be, he made landfall exactly where he estimated that Indonesia would be. Only it wasn't Indonesia, it was what is today the Dominican Republic.

The reason why he was trying to get to Indonesia via the Atlantic was that the Ottoman Empire had conquered Constantinople and had cut off the spice route that Genoa used to access the Silk Road merchants. Genoa's economy relied on trade and they were trying to find a route that did not rely on the Ottoman Empire.

The Portuguese succeeded where he failed about 30 years later, they found a route to east Asia by sailing around Africa, and won the payoff that he was looking for, in that Portugal became the richest country in the world for about 80 years from the East Asia trade market, bypassing the Ottoman Empire completely.

The irony is that the Europeans were not looking for the Americas and were actually somewhat dissapointed that they were there, blocking the way to Asia.
