Shabaab defeat

Postby Voltage » Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:36 pm

How has this not taken place with thousands of Africans and money spent? I think the only conclusion is the weakness and ineffectiveness of Sheikh Duuliye Sare and the rest of the illegitimate, illiterate, and idiotic people who wrap themselves with Somali government name tags.

The Only way to Defeat them is if the Local's turn against them. Plus the African Troop's Mandate only say's to protect the Goverment not to Engage in Combat. Al Shabab would have not lasted a day if the FUFU went on a Rampage.

The parallels do not exist. Shabaab can and should be defeated. They can't even get to Galgaduud.

Do you still support al shabaab?

The best solution is if al shabaab take over Somalia, thats when the real defeat will start, as we all know al shabaab are really good at self destruct.

The parallel is there, u just refuse to acknowledge it.

If Shabaab captured Xamar, how long do u seriously think it would take to capture Galgaduud?

I agree with all the previous posters . It is an ideology that cannot be really crushed in a military sense alone but again they cannot really govern . A strong tribal structure can only defeat these pigs !

The Taliban couldn't get through the Northern Areas of Afghanistan, too.

But you are right. The comparison between Taliban and Al Shabab is deceptive. The Taliban survive single-handedly because of its support by the Pashtun, to the point that to many Pashtun, the Taliban are ethnic rebel group.

In Somalia, Al Shabab is an ideology that appeals to certain individuals with no clan backing. So in this sense, it is easier to contain them provided that there is a credible and competent government that can take them on.
