Re: Will this ever be possible?
Its easily possible, but who really wants it? I think we should just divide the rest of Somalia between clans and states.
All it takes is Ethiopia to drop its guard and enter a vulnerable position, that's how Ethiopia beat back and destroyed Somalia. Ahmed Gurey used Falashas and some orthodox Ethiopians against the emperor. Somalis will once again use Oromos against the state. But I don't want Somalis to dominate the area, Ethiopia is a much better suited power in the region.

Re: Will this ever be possible?
No I don't ever think it is possible, my reason for that is the somali people have never witnessed a central power controlling all the somali lands and for that to work you need everybody on board. Let's focus on each part of the original 5 somali states:
Somalia - currently in a never-ending war and hawiye and other southern somalis don't look like they are fed up with war just yet.
Somaliland - currently enjoying peace and some sort of governance, majority support full secession from somalia and wouldn't give up 20yrs of hard work only to rejoin somalia, also some are anti-secession (harti & some gadabursi)
Djibouti - when you are an established country (in somali terms) why would they jeopardise their statehood by joining blood-thirsty somalis
Ogaden - currently under occupation and in a war that looks un-winnable (is that even a word
)
NFD - currently booming business wise and again why would they give that up to join somalia
