i am in my spirtual birth home. Its amazing. There is fast development here. US dollars go far , being eating nice local food. I am at the moment shunning and ignoring fake somali diaspora ppl. Lol

So you must enjoy having to carry around a wheel barrow of that worthless secessionist money? And eating fly infected foods served by a bunch of disease infected Oromos? And your idea of "development" is rather strange, because Hargesia is nothing but a bunch of dusty, garbage littered roads with a few tacky buildings appearing here and there. Too bad MSB didn't firebomb this provincial backwater into oblivion, because it certainly doesn't deserve the title of "second capital".

thanks for warm wishes - really appreciate them.

Hargesia is nothing like i expected. Its dynamic and vibrant. There is alot of missed-matched development take placing, at least according to ngo buzz words. Change is gradually taking place.

Will put pictures up soon inshallah.

It is my duty to attack and criticize the treacherous entity that is working hard to undermine the territorial integrity of Somalia. You'll never have recognition.

Have you already started the Job.??
Yeah ,I started the job. Its very challenging so far - there seems to be no students at the university. Apparently, in the first week, students hardly turn up to classes. Nonetheless, the few, who have turn up to class seem to have an impressive command of English.

My only concern so far is the hippy attitude of some of the other teachers here. The white teachers make snide little jokes. Its not funny nor impressive. They usually utter words like - 'I am going to use my dahabshiil card at the supermarket.' - There is slight ironic mockery.

There appears to a deep infiltration of NGOs in all aspects of Somaliland society here. NGO are creating dependence. This should be curtailed and its impressive to hear that Saad Shire is making some movements to counter-balance the negative effects of NGOs and neo-colonial institutions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HARGEISA (SomalilandPress) —Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire Somaliland’s Minster of Planning and Development today addressed Somaliland parliament for the first time since take office. Dr. Shire told members of parliament that since he took office he has been working on a report to see where the country stood with regards to development. Dr. Shire spoke about his findings and one of the issues that caught his attention was the number of NGOs and the lack of development that they have done.

Dr. Shire went on to say currently there are 300 International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) registered in Somaliland and these NGOs are not being held accountable for all their financial funding. These 300 International Non-Governmental Organizations in the country are said to be working in the fields of education, social service and community development. However there is no single tangible thing that shows what these NGOs have done for the people of Somaliland and that to me is unacceptable.

Dr. Shire blamed the government for failing to account the donor funds that these NGOs are getting on behalf of Somaliland citizens. Another factor that allowed for these NGOs to go out of control is the lack of auditing system that would requires these NGOs to maintain transparent accounting. Dr. Shire went farther to say that he is very disappointed with his findings regarding these NGOs and therefore something must be done about them.

Minister Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire concluded his briefing by telling members of the parliament that his office is presently working on a strategy that will begin registering these NGOS and audit them at the end of each fiscal year to verify where donor funding was spend. Dr. Shire also suggested that a committee be formed that will work with NGOs and donor countries.
