The Economic Future of Southern Somalia?

Postby King-of-Awdal » Wed Oct 06, 2010 4:28 pm

Hypothetically Speaking How Long Will it take for the South to Emerge as an Economic Power? I was thinking to myself today that some people in here always talk about the Billion's of Barrel's of Oil in the North, What if somehow Three times more Oil and Gas Reserves are found in the South, add to their Farm Land's and Weather, it could lead for the South Actually trying to Force the North to Leave. For Some Odd Reason i suspect there is lot's of Oil and Gas on the Shore's of the South and some Central Part's in the South.

Theres already more money in the south in its current hellish state than the north. just imagine what a few years of continous peace would bring!

The south has real economic commodities that can be exported immediately, like cash crops. There is no oil in the north, there is nothing there. The only oil prospects in Somalia are in central Somalia (Hiiraan up to Mudug) and eastern Somalia (Bari, eastern Sanaag, whole Nugaal basin) and those are just prospects so there's only an investment opportunity in those regions based on hopes of the future. I think the south will be okay, it can easily transform itself into an economic power with the right management, the resources are already there, it just needs talent; a few regions of the far south have far more economic power than the whole rest of the country.

I suspect Oil of the Coast of Galgadud and for sure there is Something in Gedo and even Near the Capital. People are forgetting that Oil of Shores and Gas actually Outnumber those found on Land in the world.

you guys dont seem to forget the conflict that comes with having so much resources, the North will reach a the moon before the South gets the peace and stability to build a public toilet.

BTW, i reckon the North West has the best weathers in Somalia.

Freshwater fishing alone in southern Somalia can easily become a major industry, let alone farming or anything else.

Do you have any idea how many rivers, lakes & freshwater mega-lakes lie between Jilib & Bu'aale?

The jubbas are rich in alot of such as agriculture. oil is all over Somalia and offshore. Somalia if it wanted has alot of potential but the reality is 20 years of war which is still going on.

Why do you guys think Somalia has been in a state of war for the last 20+ years? Because we skinnies want it? No, the multitude of competing interests have been arming the different clans/factions since the 80s because each foreign backer wants their guys to be in charge or the civil continous.

Its as simple as that and we (skinnies) are too stupid to figure that out.
