Al-Shabaab have helicopters?

Postby Monk-of-Mogadishu » Sun Oct 10, 2010 3:44 am

Diyaarad nooca qumaatiga u kaca ee loo yaqaano Helicopter ayaa lagu soo waramaaya in habeenimadii xalay ay weerar qarax ka geysatay degmo ku taalla gobolka Shabeelada dhexe ee Koonfurta Soomaaliya.

Xeebta degmada Warshiikh ayaa lasoo sheegaaya in diyaaradu ay ku weerartay doonyaha yar yar o halkaas ku xirnaa, iyadoo la aaminsanyahay doonidaas in ay kusoo baxsadeen kooxo Burcadbadeed Soomaali ah oo dhowaan kasoo degay xeebta halkaas.

Qarax aad u xoogan ayaa saqdii dhexe ee xalay laga maqlay dhamaan degmada Warshiikh, waxaana ay walaac xoog badan ku abuurtay dadkii halkaas ku dhaqnaa.

Kooxihi Burcadbadeeda ee watay doonida ayaa la sheegay in ay xireen Ciidamada Xarakada Al-Shabaab oo halkaas ka taliya.

Xaalada degmada Warshiikh ayaa saaka ah mid degan, waxaana aan jirin wax khasaaro ah oo ka dhashey weerarkaas marka laga yimaado burbur ku yimid doonida tiilay gudaha badda.

I doubt it, what Shabab fighter has the expertise to operate such machinery. I don’t even think they would be able to maintain it.

Afghan warlords flew MiG jets and large transport helicopters in the 90s, few of those backward tribesmen have ever been in a conventional army. Among Shabaab's 10,000+ army which includes foreigners, I'd imagine at least a few have the aptitude to fly a little helicopter. It takes only a few weeks to fly a small plane, it should not take any longer to fly a small helicopter.

maybe it was an autogiro or a microlight,

they are easy to fly and cost about $10,000 for a base model that you can buy off the internet and assemble it yourself..
starp a large amount of semtex or C4 and some ball bearings and you have one hell of a cruise missle,
cheaper and more accurate than a Tomahawk..

all you need is the biological guidance and control system, i.e suicide bomber and there you go...

im sure alshabaab has hundreds of potential suicide bombers available, and an autogiro or microligth takes a few days to learn to fly a few weeks to master.
it takes years of advanced training to fly a helicopter..

thr afghans had ex afghan airforce pilots and pakistanis supplied by the ISI.
infact the entire comand, control and communication, is paskitani army.

and the tactics used by the taliban in the 90's against the warlords and the northern alliance reads from the pakistani operational manual....

nations that fucked up mobile warfare even when they had all the advantages tend to overcompensate later on in the future..

The french while having much better tanks than the germans, did not undertand mobile warfare and they got curbstomped by the blitzkrieg.
The Pakistanis while having a much better trained armoured force than the indians, threw away thier advantages with silly strategy and tactics
and they drew with the Indians in 65 when they should have easily won..

today both the french and the pakistani millitary doctrine stress agressive mobile warfare.
