To people beyond laascaanood you are a qaldaan :) However to reer hargeysa you are yaakhi :)[/quote]

Most Somali don't Consider people from Djibouti Qaldaan and never refer to us as such so quit Bullshitting. What the Heck is Yaakhi? :? I can tell easily when i see someone from Hargeisa just by the way they speak and no offense but there is always something Feminine about them. On the other Burco Folk's Tend to Yell or scream when they are speaking. Atleast the one's i have seen.

KOA, I don't think a man from xamar who speaks like: "banooni ila dheel nooh" would tell the difference in accent between somebody from djibouti and some from las qoray
Are you sure you never heard the term yaakhi, all the reer djibouti who flock to hargeisa in the summer get picked on and called this term. Come to think of it I met this ciise lady who was my neighbour in hargeisa and for a minute I thought she was reer xamar

You might not think so but walaahi Most people atleast now that my Somali is better Can easily pick my Djibouti accent. Our Accent Tend's to be much Heavier and i think we speak faster. As for the Word Yaakhi i have no clue what it is :? . As for the Ciise lady maybe she was born and Lived in the Capital of Somalia. If anything i see myself as a Qowdhan rather a Qaldaan. Even Djiboutian accent can vary sometimes.

It is only culturally relevant but it does have some geographic connotations. For example, when we Somalis decided what was north and what was south, we were using cultural centers as talking points -- the northerners looked towards Xamar, Mudug, and Waamo to define the south, which are in fact geographically southward -- they did not particularly look towards quiet Bari or Nugaal as examples, and those are the only two regions that beat the north-south theory as a strictly geographic one.

The More You Know! :)
Bro, what you need to understand is that it's all arbitrary really, a man from ceelaayo is culturally closer to a fellow somali from bari whether he is a warsan, dhishishly, mj or whatever than to a reer woqiye from wooqiye galbeed, a samaroon from saylac might be more culturally similar to a fellow gadabuursi in ethiopia or djibouti than to a fellow reer woqiye from laascanood. What you need to understand is that Somalis as imprudent nomads who moved around depending on seasons, weather, needs etc were never really constrained by colonial powers. That's one of the reasons why we are one of the least culturally affected people by clonial powers in Africa, apart from of course in places like xamar etc which it's orignal inhabitants were never really nomads anyway. Of course you can generalise; there definitely does exist a popular or should I say common woqiye and konfuur culture but what I'm telling you is you really can't split Somalilands into exact, easily differentiable areas, lol If you understand what I'm saying.

Btw, this is a fellow cisee riyole speaking to you

Well, it seems that nobody wants puntland, the southerners don't consider them Southerners and the Northerners don't consider them Northerners.
