Abdalla I was just trying to make the point that just because something is named after these Imam's doesn't mean that it is an Innovation that they brought.
Look I don't want to be rude, and nor do I want to speak Islam in an aggressive manner. Imam Abu Hassan Ashari use to be a Mutazillah and was trained and was their most promising student, but he started to have difficulties in their aqida and a lot of things didn't make sense to him. Eventually, he renounced his beliefs in the Mutazilah sect and joined the Ahlul Sunnah whereupon his intimate understanding of their doctrines was the lead in refuting their beliefs. Imam Ashari did not bring a new aqida because the beliefs of ahlul sunnah have always been the same, but what he did was he was able to answer the questions posed by the mutazillahs and refute their own points, and he clarified points of doctrine that wasn't clarified to that point because the muslims of ahlul sunnah did not ask such questions.
Imam Matrudi who he himself independently of Imam Ashari'i was busy refuting other sects in the east, and he to clarified points in refutation to new divergent sects. These two creed's are basically the same tho they were independent of each other and one was in the east and the other in the west, this shows that the beliefs of ahlul sunnah are truly one and the same.
Imam Tahawi was their predecessor and he two formed a concise aqida particular to the time he lived in and in refutation of the misunderstandings and deviant creeds of his day.
As Ahlul Sunnah we do not deny any of the Aqida's and to be one you have to accept either the Matrudi or Ashari aqida's, or else you have strayed from the Jama'a of the muslimiin. And there is no debate within this for us, aqida is clear for us and we do not truly debate about this.
