i graduated from high school in university now. we have 2 kind of high schools.
traditional one : 3ilm and adabi last 2 years of high school. this was yearly.
or new system (not new thought been 20+ years around) it's like american system. we call thanawiyat moqararat.

which means you choose you classes as you need, it's nethamel semesters just like universities. i was moqararat and i took equally science and math and the arabic, english french and history, 3ilm nafs wal falsafah.
